Shilo’s been around summer camps and outdoor adventures since he was a kid—and he never really left! He’s worked at awesome places like Sky Ranch, Camp Compass, Camp Thurman, and Sabine Creek Ranch. A proud Marine veteran and double major from Houston Baptist, Shilo brings big energy, strong leadership, and a heart for mentorship.

Tinkerbell has been part of the camp family since 2017! She brings extensive experience in business operations and is excited to use those skills to help things run smoothly behind the scenes. She’s a big fan of coffee shops, traveling, and beach days with a good book and her family. Her dream snack? Chips and salsa—every time! Tinkerbell can’t wait to help make this summer one to remember!

Maui is no stranger to camp life—he’s served as a counselor at both Camp Anothen and Camp Thurman, and now he’s back full-time and fired up to make more memories. Dylan played football while earning his Business degree from Austin College.

Maui and his wife are part of Fielder Church and are excited to serve with the youth. His go-to Bible verse is Isaiah 41:10—because with God on our side, there’s nothing to fear!

Moose brings over 10 years of leadership experience in nonprofits and knows a thing or two about building awesome teams and strong communities! She studied Journalism, PR, and Marketing at the University of North Texas and loves connecting with people and making a positive impact.

When she’s not at camp, you’ll probably find her hiking or backpacking through a National Park with her husband and kids—always up for a new adventure!

Jim Rose is a well-loved name in the camping world, best known for building and leading Camp Thurman in Arlington, Texas. He served as Executive Director there for over 37 years, leaving a lasting legacy in the lives of campers and staff alike. Now, Jim’s adventure continues at Camp Anothen in Mansfield, Texas—where his heart for mentorship, faith, and fun is right at home.

Kip is the Female Lead Counselor, and this is her fourth summer at Camp Anothen! She loves splashing in the ponds, playing epic games, singing loud at rally, and adventuring through the woods. What keeps her coming back year after year? The incredible campers and staff! For Kip, the fun and tight-knit community at Anothen is what makes camp truly special.

Scooby is one of the Lead Counselors at Camp Anothen and is thrilled to be back for his second summer! He recently graduated with a degree in Kinesiology (December 2024) and will be stepping into his dream job as a PE teacher this fall. Scooby is passionate about helping kids stay active, build confidence, and discover that movement can be seriously fun. With his energy and heart for campers, he’s ready to make this summer one to remember!

Dove is currently studying Early Childhood Development and has a heart for working with children! Along with serving at Camp Anothen, she also volunteers as a Sunday School teacher at her church. She’s a big fan of Dr. Pepper, giraffes, and spending quality time with her husband and family. Her favorite thing about Anothen? The warm, family-like community that makes camp feel like home!

Now in his second year in a leadership role at Camp Anothen, Typewriter brings all the energy of a true theater kid—plus an accordion! Before stepping into leadership, he served as a counselor and loved every minute of it. He’s all about making campers laugh, creating unforgettable moments, and adding a little music to the woods (yes, that really is him playing the accordion out there!). Camp wouldn’t be the same without his big personality and even bigger heart.

Cheese is the Lifeguard Manager at Camp Anothen and is diving into his fourth summer on staff! With a love for the outdoors and a heart for campers, he’s all about creating a safe, fun, and unforgettable experience by the water.

Now in his third year at Camp Anothen, Mustang is back as a counselor and ready for another summer full of fun and adventure! He’s all about creating unforgettable moments with campers and being part of the Anothen crew. Once summer wraps up, he’ll be heading off to pilot school—so this season is his final countdown before taking to the skies!

Blaze is pumped for his first summer at Camp Anothen! He’s looking forward to a season full of fun, faith, and growth. His heart is all about helping campers feel welcome, have an awesome time, and feel confident asking questions as they grow in Christ together. Wrangler is thrilled for his first summer at Camp Anothen! Mixtape is jumping into his first summer at Camp Anothen after recently graduating high school. He’ll be starting college this fall, but first—he’s ready for an awesome summer of fun and adventure! He loves the outdoors and can’t wait to make memories, build friendships, and have a blast with campers all season long.

Bigfoot is a college student studying Kinesiology and Motor Rehabilitation, and this is his first summer at Camp Anothen! He brings four years of experience working with kids through his church, where he’s led worship, given sermons, and led the boys’ group at camp. He’s excited to bring that same energy and heart to Camp Anothen and is ready for a summer full of connection, fun, and faith-filled adventures!

Viper has grown up at Camp Anothen—he spent five years as a camper and three years as an L.I.T.! Now he’s stepping into his first summer as a counselor and can’t wait to meet the campers and make new memories. He’s all about speed and competition, and loves running track and cross country when he’s not at camp!

Bemo is a student at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he's studying Social Work—and he’s 100% a camp person! He brings a ton of enthusiasm and heart to Camp Anothen.

Whether it’s leading games, building friendships, or just soaking up the camp spirit, Bemo absolutely loves everything about camp and can’t wait to share that joy with every camper!

Dandelion brings two years of experience and a whole lot of sunshine to Camp Anothen! Power is a part-time counselor and full-time fun expert in her first year at camp! She’s all about crafts, games, mini adventures, goofy jokes, and spontaneous dance parties. Luna is a counselor who’s all about adventure, creativity, and helping every camper have the best week ever! You’ll probably catch her laughing a little too hard at a corny joke—and making camp a whole lot more fun because of it!
