An Authentic Summer Camp Environment…
At Camp Anothen, our goal is to give every child the chance to experience something new — and to do it outside.
On our 22-acre campus, campers discover the joy of outdoor play. Whether they’re fishing for bass, learning to shoot archery, or kayaking across our ponds, each day brings a new adventure. For many, we’re the very first place they get to try these outdoor activities.
More importantly, being part of a Christian community reminds us that faith is meant to be lived out together. Anothen is a place where we can encourage one another, grow in God’s Word, and serve others with love and purpose.
Send your kids to camp! Let them explore our woods and gullies, swim in our ponds, catch a frog, or fish for channel catfish. It’s the perfect way to spend the summer — unplugged, active, and outdoors…and much more.
To disciple a Christ Following Staff and introduce Christ to our Campers…
We are Christian ministry. We believe that Jesus is real and that his sacrifice on the cross saves us. This is a gift and not accomplished by following a religion.
While we are not affiliated with any single church or denomination, we are a Christian organization that joyfully welcomes staff, campers, and families from many Christian backgrounds. Our goal is to love and serve everyone we encounter while remaining faithful to the teachings of God’s Word.

ATTEND CAMP
We strive to create an amazing camp environment for every camper who walks into Camp Anothen. As a camper, you are able to experience the fun of the outdoors, all while developing life-long friendships in a Christ-like community where you BELONG and learn more about Jesus and the Gospel.

JOIN OUR LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
Learning to be a leader is an important step in our journey as Christ followers. Our Leaders In Training (LIT’s) will volunteer alongside our camp staff in maintenance activities and assist camp counselors and their groups.
Our LIT Program is designed to be a place where teens can belong to something bigger than themselves, while contributing to a team effort.

Being a camp counselor is both challenging and the most fun you will ever have. It requires a person who has energy and an honest heart. We are ALL about building an awesome summer camp and look for people who are willing and ready to take the next step in the Camp Anothen journey.
What does Anothen mean?
There is a good chance you have mispronounced the camp name…and that’s okay, especially when you are learning a new word, from an ancient language…
ANOTHEN:
The word "anothen" (ἄνωθεν) is a Greek word that appears in the New Testament of the Bible. It can be translated in different ways depending on its context, but generally, it means "from above," "again," or "from the beginning."
There are many examples of “anothen” in the Bible.
One of the most famous instances of this word is in the conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus in the Gospel of John, chapter 3.
In John 3:3, Jesus says to Nicodemus, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God." In this verse, "again" is translated from the Greek word "anothen."
There's some wordplay happening here because "anothen" can also mean "from above," which leads to some confusion for Nicodemus.
