FAQs

  • Drop Off begins at 8:00am every day.Gates Close and Camp Programs begin promptly at 9:00am.

    Pick-Up Gates will open at 4:00pm. All campers need to be picked up by 4:30pm.

    *Please respect our staff’s time. Campers picked-up later than 4:30pm will be charged $15 for every 5 minutes they are late.

  • Campers can only be released to a parent or legal guardian whose identity is made available to the office during the registration process. Parents may pick up their kids earlier than normal pick up hours but will need to notify the camp office. The front gate is closed after drop off and will reopen at the respective pick up times. Please be ready to present your driver’s license to sign your camper in and out.

  • Yes! We do have a phone in the camp office that is available for all campers to use.

  • We have camp even if it rains. In the event of thunder or lightning, campers are moved to the nearest safety area.

  • The Wednesday before your registered camp week at Anothen, we assign a counselor to your camper. The counselor that is assigned to your camper will contact you that day and introduce themselves so that you are in the know of who will be with your child.

  • Camp Anothen has a Snack Shack located just off the main camp office. The Snack Shack stocks a variety of snacks and drinks available for purchase by the camper.

    *Snack Shack money will now be included in the camp registration fee.

  • We spend most of the day playing outside in the woods and in the fields of camp. Please make sure you apply sunscreen to your camper before you drop them off and send it in your camper’s camp bag. Your counselor will monitor your camper and will reapply sunscreen unless otherwise directed by you.

  • Campers will participate in water activities daily. Please dress your camper in their swimsuit, shorts, t-shirt and closed-toe-shoes.

    Girls: Modest one-piece swimsuits or tankini, stomachs must be fully covered.

    Boys: No Speedos.

  • At Anothen, campers will have the opportunity to participate in swimming activities in our pool as well as kayaking, fishing in our pond and an inflatable slip-n-slide.

  • First and foremost we have American Red Cross trained and certified lifeguards on duty at all times.

    Secondly, ALL Discovery Campers ( ages 3 - completed Pre-K) MUST wear a life vest while in the pool at all times. ALL Day Campers (completed Kinder - 6th grade) are required to pass a swim test in order to swim without a life vest. If a camper does not pass or does not take the swim test, they will be required to wear a life vest during the pool time.

    *ALL campers and staff MUST wear a life vest while in and around the pond.

  • Our pool is 5 feet deep, this allows our staff to stand flat footed in all areas of the pool.

    Our pond is ankle deep at the beach front and anywhere from 15-18 feet deep in other areas.

    *ALL campers and staff MUST wear a life vest while in and around the pond.

  • Yes! The Lost and Found is located at the Camp Office. Our Counselors work hard to deliver the best camp experience possible. That means having your camper return home with everything they brought to camp. You can help them by sticking to the packing list and making sure your camper’s belongings are clearly marked with their name.

  • From time to time the need arises for campers to be disciplined. The following is how we correct mistakes, lapse in judgment or failure to follow directions and control one’s self.

    1st Offense: Verbal Correction 2nd Offense: Time Out (parent is notified) 3rd Offense: Send to the Office (parent is notified)

    Depending on the offense, the camper may be sent home for a day, week or the entire summer.

    As always, the camp staff reserves the right to send campers home at their desecration and may skip steps in the process depending on the offense.

  • All cancellations MUST be submitted by May 15, 2024.

    *No refund will be given if requested after May 15, 2024.

    One free Week Swap will be allowed 14 days prior to the start of the Camp Week pending availability. If more than 1 Week Swap is needed a $10 fee will be assessed per camper per additional Week Swap. *Weather related cancellations are not permitted.
